BJP Minority Morcha Chief Jamal Siddiqui Receives Extortion Threat; Police Launch Investigation
Nagpur: A case involving alleged extortion and death threats against BJP Minority Morcha National President Jamal Siddiqui has drawn attention after threatening messages sent through WhatsApp were reported to the police.
According to the complaint lodged by Siddiqui, a WhatsApp message received on May 25, 2026, from mobile number 8899162823 allegedly demanded an extortion amount ranging from ₹50 lakh to ₹1 crore. The sender reportedly threatened to kill Siddiqui if the money was not paid.
Jamal Siddiqui, an engineer by profession and a real estate entrepreneur from Nagpur, is widely known for his active public engagement and frequent posts on social media praising the initiatives and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He currently serves as the National President of the BJP Minority Morcha.
In his complaint, Siddiqui alleged that the sender also made references to threats involving senior Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge. Following the receipt of the messages, he approached the police and an FIR was registered.
Investigators have begun tracing the origin of the mobile number used to send the threats. Preliminary reports suggest that the number is under examination by law enforcement agencies, which are working to establish the identity and location of the individual responsible. Officials have stated that technical surveillance and digital tracking are underway and expressed confidence that the accused will be identified.
Police sources have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that conclusions regarding the identity of the sender can only be drawn after the completion of the inquiry. Authorities are examining all digital evidence connected with the case, including call records, WhatsApp activity, and subscriber details associated with the number.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses. Defence expert Kapil Burman said that it is very important to keep – VIP numbers in surveillance so that no time is wasted in nabbing the criminals while they threat people to extort money.
