Indian boomerang player Prabhakaran S, who won a silver medal at the World Boomerang Championship, was felicitated at a programme organised by Samriddh Sanatan Sangh at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.
Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel, Minister of State in the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Panchayati Raj, felicitated Prabhakaran and presented him with an incentive award of Rs 21,000 in recognition of his achievement.
Prabhakaran, a native of Padalur in Tamil Nadu’s Perambalur district, created history by winning the silver medal in the individual Endurance event at the World Boomerang Championship held in Indonesia from July 26 to August 5, 2026. The achievement marks India’s first international medal in boomerang sport. Among 20 participating teams from across the world, India finished 11th in the team standings.
Having remained ranked number one for the past three years, Prabhakaran once again delivered an impressive performance on the international stage. Besides being a successful player, he is also working as a coach and mentor, training children in the sport of boomerang.
India’s women’s thrower Bhavana Tyagi also put up a strong performance at the championship. Although she narrowly missed out on a bronze medal by a matter of microseconds, she finished fifth in the women’s world rankings.
The programme was inaugurated in the presence of BJP National Organiser Nagendra Nath, MP Jagannath Sarkar and senior BJP leader Sudhanshu Mittal. The participants held detailed discussions on the concept of Sanatan prosperity and deliberated on a roadmap for promoting the country’s cultural heritage and values.
The organisers, Dr Shubhashu Singh, Ravikant Mishra and Nitin Kharbanda, welcomed and felicitated the guests and participants. Founder Janmejay Singh urged the gathering to incorporate the thoughts and teachings of former vice-chancellor A. D. N. Bajpai into their lives.
Minister of State Girish Mishra highlighted the importance of India’s rich cultural heritage and the concept of Sanatan prosperity, and said that the people of the country are working rapidly towards progress and development.
